Job Description
Responsible for providing accurate and efficient estimates based upon contractor tender documents, drawings, models, and bills of quantity.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting client relations and enquiry management.
- Supporting daily quotation activities as well as recommending economical product solutions to accommodate various sales and enquiry requests.
- Supporting the schedule and programme demands as set forth by clients and other members of the estimating department to ensure all deadlines are met.
- Supplying well qualified and accurate quotation proposals through the effective application of custom developed and third-party estimating software and company procedures.
- Supporting the extent of value engineering opportunities wherever they exist for client consideration.
- Set quantities and price.
- To take off quantities from drawings and models
- To obtain quotations for bought out items.
- To produce the final overall pricing sheet for the Estimate
Educational background required.
- Preferably GCSEs in English, Maths and Science
- HNC ideally
Job related experience required.
- Experience within a structural steel industry.
- 5 years estimating experience – generally moves from the drawing office or design or production.
Any other skills / knowledge required.
- construction software such as Revit, AutoCAD, bluebeam and Tekla experience would be advantageous but not essential.
- Proficient in excel and word.
